I have a 1999 Passat and this morning when pulling out onto the street I had an issues. I accelerated to 55 miles per hour and noticed that the transmission wasn't shifting into 5th gear. The RPMs continued to increase, but the shift did not happen. When I took my foot off of the gas their was a pop sound and my gas pedal was no longer engaged with the engine (meaning that pushing on the pedal did not increase the RPMs or appear to be feeding gas to the engine). I shifted into Neutral and pulled over because it would not re-engage. The car stalled and turned off while drifting in neutral. After a restart of the car the engine ran fine. This is the second day in a row this has happened at the same pojnt on the road. Initial acceleration from a private street onto a public road with 50 mph limits. I got the engine codes out yesterday and they indicated fuel injector issues and an RPM exceeding code as well as Oxygen sensor issues. Can someone explain better to me what could be
have the same problem?
