The vehicle dies and the warning signs are always as follows: radio turns off, battery warning light comes on, gauges shut down, red secrity light flashes, car dies. After sitting for more than an hour it can be driven a short distance (4-10 mi.) Before the same sequence occurs.
bought the vehicle from aunts estate. Was purchased at a ford dealer in 07 with 22,000 mi. As a factory sale vehicle. It is a ZX5 model.
Repairs thus far:
7-12-13 new battery replacing original, after the first incident.
7-15-13 replaced alternator with aftermarket unit after the 2nd incident on the 14th
7-18-13 replaced "faulty" alternator with a "bench tested" known good alternator after 3rd time on 17th
7-23-13 car failed the same way again and is currently at the shop.
Is there anything "in front' of the circuit that could surge, short and ruin the alternator system?
