Shakes or Wobbles problem
1998 Vauxhall Vectra Manual 87000 miles
Have owned car for approx a year with no real problems to date however in recent weeks the car has been suffering with excessive shaking and vibrations. The problem only occurs when driving at speeds between 65 - 75 mph (dependant on road type) and has a feeling very simmilar to driving over rumble strips, although much more rapidly. At the moment the vehicle is no more difficult to control whilst the shaking is occuring but can be very uncomfortable. At first I thought this could be down to the tracking or allignment, but have had no steering wobble or the vehicle pulling to one side. At roughly same time that this problem began to occur I also began to notice that when turning right at speeds (such as navigating a roundabout) there is a knocking from the rear of the vehicle. Being very much a novice in mechanical matters I need a little guidance before taking the car to my local mechanic, what are the likely causes of these problems and is it likely that the two are related?
