Engine Performance problem
1992 Vauxhall Astra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

Astra 1600 petrol

Car is missing and when pulling away but goes ok after a couple of seconds after the revs have built up. You can feel the car also missing somtimes durring a drive but the speed doesnt seem to be afected and was able to travel along a 40 mile dual carrage way fine at good speed. But after travelling 40 miles water temp kept riseing to the red.
I pulled over had to put 2 litres of water into radiater. I thenContinued jerney and temp was fine for another 40 miles before it rose again and another 2 litres of water had to be put in. Again car still missing.

Is this a bad batch of petrol because it started after I filled the tank.

spark plug or U/S lead.

Their is no water leakage from pipes or radiator.
head gasgit has no leaks or steam coming from it and looks fine.

please any ideas

Inspect and test the following: Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include: Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
