Very odd. The trunk pops open without rhyme or reason. I can shut the car off, lock up, walk away and the trunk pops open. I have tried to hide all the fobs and kept them far away from the car thinking that I could releasing the trunk with the fob, but this does not seem to be the case. I am perplexed to why this is occurring.

In my Google searches, it seems that it can be an electrical problem or a bad latch?

More then likely this is a faulty relay. I suspect the relay is shorted and it making intermittent connection and it pops the trunk.

Here is a guide on how to test the relay:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Also I attached the wiring diagram and location of the relay. If it were me, I would replace the relay and see if it acts up any more. I suspect it won't but we won't know for sure unless it does it again.

Let us know what questions you have and we can go from there. Thanks

My trunk keeps opening without touching the buttons. Can be while adjusting tilt, or just by itself!

Hey STEVE,

Sounds like you have a ghost in the machine! lol just kidding, we need to find out if it is electrical or not, please disconnect the wiring for the release actuator to see if it stops. If not the latch is bad and needs replacing, here is a guide that give you an idea on how to do it.
