Car will not shift into fifth gear. I need to know what type of transmission is in the vehicle and what the issue could be? thank you.

if it will not shift into one gear it is either a broken pin inside transmission for shifting, a bad synchro, or worn out shift fork. anyone of three items plus a worn shift ball can cause your problem so it has to go apart. you have a type "G" transmission.
