Transmission problem
1996 Toyota Tercel 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 178000 miles

I have an oil leak (2 qts wk.) And have the transmission disconnected except for the Speedometer cable. It has a " hand nut" on the tranny and about half way to the firewall. All I can do is twist the " nut" and it twists the cable and it runs back. What am I doing wrong? How do I remove the cable from the tranny or the other connection half way up the cable?
Thanks,
Lloyd
