I try to start my car and sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. It runs excellent when it does start but when it starts it is almost a prolonged start

This sounds like a fuel pump or the crankshaft angels sensor has gone out. When you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

Please run down this guide and report back.

That is typical of fuel pressure bleeding down, usually caused by a leaking injector. It can also be caused by a leaking check valve in the fuel pump or a leaking fuel pressure regulator. None of those are particularly serious. You may be able to verify low fuel pressure by turning the ignition switch to "run" without cranking the engine, waiting a few seconds, then turning it back off, waiting a few seconds, turning it back to "run", wait a little, then crank the engine. Each time you turn the ignition switch to "run", the fuel pump will run for about one second. Doing that multiple times gives the pump more time to build the required pressure for the engine to run.

Howdy, the other day I went out with some family drove the car for about 15 miles then it set for a few hours. Got back to the car turned it on and moved it 100 feet. Turned it off for about 5 min and put a car seat in. Started up just fine and drove for less than a mile and when I got to a red light it stalled (its a 5 speed manual) but it did not stall like a normal it just died instead of having the little bounce it sometimes has when it stalls. I tried to start it and wouldn't after about 3 times trying it started and the RPM's jumped to about 3000 and then the car bogged out like it wasnt getting enough fuel. I have been testing different parts on the car and the fuel pump had the correct pressure and there is enough spark on and the starter is turning over. Im lost with the repairs on this car. This is my daily driver I need to get it fixed as soon as I can please email me if you have any idea what is wrong with it. Thanks

Intermittent problems are never easy to diagnose and when problems occurs, that is the time you need to be checking/diagnosing.
Guessing is expensive and time consuming. The link below explains what to look for and if you require anything else let us know.

Fuel spark and injector pulse need to be checked. A code read for any faults will also be a help. Are you able to check these items yourself?

My vehicle has been acting up as of late. It would almost stall on occasion at idle. Now it won't start at all. I replaced the spark plugs and wires and still no luck. I've been told it may be experiencing some type of fuel problem. I would like to take care of this myself but not sure where to start. Any help on this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You need to check fuel pressure and for spark to the engine. The easiest way to check is by checking to see if it will start with starting fluid. If it does, it is a fuel related problem. If it doesn't then it is ignition related?

Try that and let me know what happens or if you want directions on checking for spark and fuel, let me know.

Thank you for the information. Looks like its fuel related and everyone seems to think its the fuel pump. How much does replacing a fuel pump normally run?
