Hello,

It sounds like the crankshaft angle sensor has gone out which will not allow the fuel pump to turn on here is a guide to help us and the location of the crankshaft angle sensor in the diagrams below.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-cranks-but-wont-start

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Hello my name is Elijah.
About 5 months ago I was driving back with my car from Maryland to north carolina and the engine began to rattle. Eventually the engine stopped all together. At first I thought it was the oil because I hadn't changed it in awhile because I had been traveling consistently for the past 6 months. My insurance company took my car to firestone and they said that the engine was burnt out and I would need a new engine. Me and my father looked at it and saw that the air intake system was full of debris as well and we cleaned it out and tried to start the engine again and the air intake basically exploded. The top of it broke and we replace it and charged the battery but the car will still not turn. We think that I might need a new engine but were still not completely sure what is wrong. We don't have the money for any big repairs so I wanted to see if you had any advice on what we can do. Thank you for reading my question have a great day.

It's probably the engine is bad, probably low or no oil in it. You probably were using either or something like gas and if it turned over it backfired and blew the intake like you said. Your cheapest option is to get a motor from a junk yard and use that.

2005 rav4 wont start, but does crank, however the strange part is that it only happens near the lake, it does not occur anywhere else.

That is strange. Maybe it likes the view at the lake? Lol.

When it could not start, you need to check what is missing, fuel or ignition sparks.

If the vehicle is parked on an incline and the fuel level is low, the fuel pump might not be able to draw the fuel.

Is the Check Engine Light indicating?

If using the accelerator works, it could be a fault with the Throttle Position Sensor. Other than that the accelerator is not going to affect anything.

Have the fuel pressure checked. Difficult starting are quite often due to low fuel pressure and more cranking than normal is required to prime the fuel sysyem pressure.

My Rav4's battery finally gave out on me, so I changed it. However, now that I've done that, though it starts up fine, the radio doesn't work, the brake lights don't work, the keyless entry only sort of works (it yells at me when I try to lock it when a door is open, and it makes the little "unlock successful" beeps, but it doesn't respond at all to the "lock" button) and the car won't shift into gear. I also have no horn and no turn signals.

I can successfull get it into gear and drive it by using the override button, but obviously, I'll just be driving it to the repair shop (using hand signals!) If I can't figure out what the deal is.

I've checked all of the fuses and they seem to be fine, but will allow that I might have missed something.

What is wrong with my car?

Thanks!

This car was wrecked and has the front airbags deployed.
All the harness look O.K., Half of the fuses do not have power.
Got power on the cluster but when turn the key to start doesn't do anything.
Does this car power switch to cut the power off in case of the accident; and where is locate?
Than you !

Some have a switch to shut off the fuel pump, but the engine would still crank. I don't know how hard it was hit, but you need to start at the power source, the battery. Check and make sure the ground to the engine block is clean, tight, and not damaged. Also, follow the positive cable from the battery to the power distribution areas to make sure nothing was damaged there.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Clean battery contacts, recent new starter. Turn key to start, the panel annunciator lights don't dim, starter relay does not click - nada. Leave key ON for random time (3 to 10 minutes) and it will start normally. What's wrong?

Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for voltage to the smaller wire on the starter. You should have 12+Volts. If you do, have the starter rechecked. Chances are (even though it is new) it is bad. If there is no power, look for the starter relay (under the hood in relay block). Switch it with another that has the same part number to see if that changes things. If it still doesn't, check for power where the relay plugs in in the start position. If there is no power, then you need to have the ignition switch checked.
