1992 Toyota Pickup replacing stolen catalytic converter

1992 Toyota Pickup 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Manual 150000 miles

I need to replace a stolen catalytic converter for a 1992 Toyota pickup truck. My mechanic recommended either a factory converter ($750 + installation) or a Miller converter ($465 + installation). He said a less expensive aftermarket converter is worthless & the truck probably wouldn't pass inspection. I called 3 muffler shops and was given quotes from $200-$311, including installation. They all assured me that they had been installing converters for years and had no complaints. Now I'm not sure what to do. This truck is rarely driven. It belongs to my son who lives out of the country.
Thank you!
