Headlights

Every morning when I start car, all the lights but the headlights come on automatically as they should. The headlights will work on bright, but not on dim.

If I open the hood and slam it a couple of times the headlights then operate in both dim and bright.

I have checked all the connections, etc. What should I try next

Loose connection at the fusible link or the head lite relay.
