Transmission problem
2002 Toyota Highlander 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 70000 miles

Hi Guys. When I decelerate (apply Brakes) occasionally I get a knocking sound in the front. At first I thought it may be the ABS brakes. I had the brakes checked and everything seemed OK and the mechanic said it maybe the transmission. Is this a common problem/symptom? Any suggestions very appreciated.

Have him examine the ball joints first also the cv/universal joints for excessive play in the front ends, if its not those then it very well may be the tranny.

Its not a common problem for highlanders to have bad trans.
