Engine Performance problem
1994 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I HAD MY HEAD SHAVED BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING BUT NOW THAT THE CAR IS RUNNING AGAIN IT DOES NOT FEEL THE SAME. UPON STARUP IT SUCKS MORE AIR THAN BEFORE AND WHEN I ACCELERATE, THE CAR FEELS SLUGGISH AT HIGH RPMS. IT STRUGGLES TO REACH THE RED LINE AND IT MAKES ALOT OF NOISE THROUGH THE INTAKE. CHECKED THE TIMING CHANGED THE PLUGS AND WIRES RAN IT WITHOUT THE DOWNPIPE AND GOT THE SAME RESULT SO I KNOW THE CAT IS NOT BLOCKED. WHAT SHOULD I CHANGE OR CHECK NEXT. AT LOW RPM THE CAR IS FINE BUT AFTER 5K IT IS SLUGGISH.

Check valve timing, it my just be starving for fuel at such a high demand. Check for a blocked filter and check flow rate.
