Shift vehicle into "D" position. While driving vehicle, hold accelerator constantly at full throttle position. Check 1-2 and 2-3 upshift points.
If 1-2 upshift does not occur, 1-2 shift valve is stuck or governor valve is defective.
If 2-3 upshift does not occur, 2-3 shift valve is stuck.
If all shift points are incorrect, throttle cable is out of adjustment or throttle valve, 1-2 or 2-3 shift valves are defective.
Repeat procedure and check shock and slip during 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts. Excessive shock can be caused by excessive line pressure, defective accumulator or defective check ball.
While driving vehicle in "D" position, check for abnormal noise or vibration. Abnormal noise or vibration may be due to an unbalanced axle shaft, differential, tires or torque converter.
While driving vehicle in 3rd gear, confirm correct kickdown speed limits for 3-2 and 2-1 shift points. Check for abnormal shock or slip at kickdown. If kickdown speed limit is incorrect, throttle cable is out of adjustment or throttle valve, 1-2 or 2-3 shift valves are defective.
Drive vehicle in "D" position. Release accelerator pedal and shift into "L" position. Confirm correct downshift speed limits for 2-1 shift point.
