Electrical problem
1987 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 155000 miles

I have a shop manual for a 1987 Toyota Corrolla that doesn't reference either a neutral safety switch or ignition switch. Would this car have 1 or both of these switches? I suspect that I have a faulty neutral safety switch. Sometimes the car would not start on the park position - unless it was jumped. Other times I would keep switching the gear shift from drive to park until it would eventually start. I never tried to start it in the neutral position though because I didn't realize this switch could have been the problem!

Neutral saftey switch is on trans. It prevents the car from being started in anything other than park/neutral.

Ignition switch is where key goes in.
