Engine problem
1999 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 177, 00 miles

The vehicle started running rough, it was suggest that we spray cleaner into the throttle to clear up gunk build up. Ran better for a day, then started running rough again so we had a diagnostic done that showed it was missing on 2 cylinders. We changed the spark plugs, 4th one showed oil and carbon. It was suggested that when we put the clearner in the throttle it caused gunk to get on the plugs. Then the check engine light came on. Changed spark plug wires and runs like it use to before, but the check engine light stays on and our gas mileage has dropped considerably. Is this an oxygen sensor issue? If so, how do we tell which sensor has gone bad? If not, what else might be going on?

1st thing to do is get it scanned for code/s and comeback with the no.S then we'll go from there.

Cleaner in the throttle caused gunk on the plugs?

Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 110000 miles

My mechanic says the computer is telling him I have bad O2 sensors, and replacement is around $550.

I'm a reasonably mechanically inclined guy-- I can replace an alternator, change plugs, replace heat blowers, change oil etc etc. I don't call myself a competent mechanic by any means.

Could this be a DIY project with a low chance of really screwing things up?
