He drivers side window regulator needs to be replaced

My Camry has 19,000 miles on it and I had to replace the original tires because they only had 4/32nds of inch treadwear left. I replaced the tires and now the drivers side window regulator needs to be replaced can you help me please?

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH

a. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the front door lower frame bracket garnish.

2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG

a. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disengage the 3 claws, and remove the front door inside handle bezel plug.

3. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP COVER

a. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disengage the 6 claws and remove the assist grip cover.

4. REMOVE COURTESY LIGHT ASSEMBLY

a. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disengage the claw and remove the courtesy light assembly.
b. Disconnect the connector.

5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Remove the 3 screws and clip (A).
b. Using a clip remover, disengage the 9 clips.
c. Pull up the front door trim board in the direction indicated by the arrow.

d. Disengage the reference bosses from the front door panel.
e. Raise the front door trim board to disengage the 4 claws and remove the front door trim board together with the front door inner glass weatherstrip.
f. Disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the front door inside handle sub-assembly.

6. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

I just purchased a 2002 Camry XLE. When I lower the driver's window it jerks hard before it starts to lower. Then it goes down fine and back up fine. There was residue of the rubber seal at the top of all the windows but I cleaned it off, I thought maybe this was causing the window to stick in the seal but it didn't fix the problem. Is this a window regulator problem?

Hi suspect rubber in seal has lost elasticity. Clean with alcohol wipe then spray with silicone spray any parts store will have. Try that let us know

there few steps before removing the regulator

# Disconnect the negative battery cable.

# Remove the front door panel to gain access to the regulator assembly.

# Remove the service hole cover.

# Lower the regulator until the door glass is in the fully open position.

# Remove the two glass channel mount bolts.

# Pull the glass up and out of the door.

# If equipped, unbolt and remove the inside door panel frame.
Removing front door inside panel frame by removing these bolts and nuts

If equipped with power windows, disconnect the electrical wiring.
# Remove the equalizer arm bracket mounting bolts.

# Remove the window regulator mounting bolts and remove the regulator (with the power window motor attached) through the service hole.

To install:

11. Coat all the window regulator sliding surfaces with multi-purpose grease.

12. Place the regulator (with the power window motor) through the service hole and install the mounting bolts. Connect the power window connector if equipped.

13. Place the door glass into the door cavity.

14. Connect the glass to the regulator with the channel mount bolts.

15. With the equalizer arm, raise the glass to the almost closed position and make sure that the leading and trailing edges of the glass are equidistant from the top of the glass channel. If not, adjust the equalizer arm to achieve an even fit.

16. Install the service hole cover.

17. Install the door panel and reconnect the negative battery cable.

I can't seem to figure out how to upload a video. But the window makes a clunk when you start to open it almost like it is off track. I'll keep trying on the video it's not going to show much you might hear a sound when it makes its clunk but that's about it.

You'll have to take out the door panel. There's about 7-9 10mm bolt. 2 for the glass, 3 on the motor, 2-4 on the window reg. Itself. Disconnect the window reg. Wire.

Hello to all:

I can't figure out if the motor in my windows are going bad or not. It started out with the front passenger window last year, but I didn't worry about it so much since we rarely let that side up or down. However, when we did it went down fine but was always very slow going back up (now extremely slow). This year I started having the same problem with the driver window which within time it does eventually go back up. But I've noticed when its very hot outside the window won't respond at all untl the car has been running for a few mininutes. For instance I try to leave the window cracked while at work. After I get off and try to roll the window back up after I've got the A/C on, it just does not move, up or down. I took it by a body shop one day before it rained and was told it was more than likely the motor after they tried slamming the doors a few times, I suppose to get it back on track thinking that it may have been off. Can anyone give me advice as to what my problem may be.

Hi there,

you will have to remove the trim and check for power to both sides of the motor, if that is OK and the motor is straining to drive, you may have to lube the window tracks as they can bind up the glass if they get to dry, use a dedicated track lube and not a general purpose spray,

Totally not hard. First take off the inside plastic door cover, few screws, and don't forget to unplug the connectors for the window switch. Remove the clear weather proof plastic, unscrew the window glass from rail(2 screws) and pull glass out as you turn it sideways. Unplug the window motor connector, unbolt the regulator and motor assembly (few more bolts) from door frame and pull out the whole thing

The power window motor is attached to the window regulator. If service is required, remove the window regulator from the inside of the door panel and detach the motor from the regulator

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the front door panel to gain access to the regulator assembly.
Remove the service hole cover.
Lower the regulator until the door glass is in the fully open position.
Remove the two glass channel mount bolts.
Pull the glass up and out of the door.
If equipped, unbolt and remove the inside door panel frame.
Disconnect the electrical wiring.
Remove the equalizer arm bracket mounting bolts.
Remove the window regulator mounting bolts and remove the regulator (with the power window motor attached) through the service hole.

My car temp gauge fell during a snowstorm and the windows became fogged. Later the motor on the drivers side when out I can hear the motor but the window will not move?

It sounds like you are having an issue with the window regulator. You will have to remove the door panel to gain access. Here are tutorials to get you started to remove the door panel and the window regulator:
