Engine Mechanical problem
1992 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 175000 miles

How do you determine TDC of number 1 piston? What timing marks are to be used on the cam gear and crankshaft gear and what position? Also, how do you determine TDC on compression side versus exhaust side?

Put the no.1 piston on its compression stroke by cranking the engine in bursts till you feel pressure pushing your finger-here your finger has to be atleast 6inches long to seal the plug hole lol-try to seal it with something-when you feel the pressure STOP. line the markings at the damper to TDC/0-open up the distributor cap-the rotor should be pointing at no.1 cap tower. To verify your on compression stroke pull the valve cover both valves should be closed on no.1 cylinder. If it is-your Online

I hope you understand it this is your ticket- Good Luck
