2006 Subaru Wagon 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 81,000 miles
My car has recently had a problem when I back out of my driveway in the morning. It will not go into drive after having been in reverse. This happens intermittently only in the mornings so far. I solve the problem by turning the car off and restarting. It then goes into drive. The rest of the day it is fine. The assessment from my Subaru dealership is that it is the transmission and it will ultimately have to be replaced. Is it possible with only 81,000 miles that the transmission could go out? Do you know of any other possibilities that might be causing this?
