I have a 1984 Subaru 4wd /1800 EA81 motor Unknown milage (well over 300,000Km's)
My engine cuts out as I am traveling.(Just stops dead and refuses to refire) It is an Intermittant problem as, if I leave it sit for an hour or two it will usually start again. When car stops engine will turn over but not fire. I have replaced fuel filters / plugs /coil /leads/rotor and distributor cap.
Multi meter shows no power at coil. Car has now stopped and refuses to fire at all. Although motor still turns over.I have been told that this could be electronic module.
Question: Does this sound correct?
Is there something in the distributor that could be causing this problem?
Where is this module located?

Update. Car has now started but, problem still there. I have taken vehicle to Auto-electrician in past but car runs perfectly while there (figures doesn't it?)
Any thoughts on this problem will be apreciated.

Thank you for your time in answering this problem as I can't afford to lose any more hair than I have already pulled out

Do you
have the same problem?
