I am the happy Canadian owner of a 2000 Subaru Outback, 4 cylinder 2.5 litre engine with automatic transmission.

At 160,000 kilometres I was told that my crank seal and head gasket needed to be replaced. My local Subaru dealer estimates for the parts alone it will be $750.

Several folks have hinted that 2000 Subaru Outbacks are known for the head gasket problems. Is that true and is $750 a reasonable rate?

Hey I would shop around for the gaskets. I paid $180 US for a complete engine gasket set. $750 CN sounds high. Good luck
