Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Subaru Legacy 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 196000 miles

My 96 legacy will turn over but will not start. When I finally get it to start it acts likes its flooded & smells of gas. After it starts it runs fine w/ no check engine light. Earlier this year it had new spark plugs, wires & fuel filter. Any ideas on whats causing this?

Now the car wont start at all. Started w/ engine starter but immediately dies after that. Pulled the intake & outtake fuel line from the fuel filter & there is no gas present. Any suggestions welcome.

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs, could be caused by the following: Probable causes of an engine running rich are as follows: 1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line or defective fuel pressure regulator.
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system
