Raise and support the rear of the vehicle safely on jackstands.
Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
Matchmark and remove the brake drum.
Remove the brake shoes, springs and other components, and place then on a flat surface. It is a good idea to organize the parts in a pattern to reflect their final installation.
Disconnect the inlet tube line from the back of the wheel cylinder. Immediately plug or cap the line to prevent system contamination or excessive fluid loss.
Remove the wheel cylinder assembly.
Remove the retainer bolts securing the backing plate to the e rear trailing arm assembly.
Position the backing plate and gasket, if equipped to the trailing arm, and secure in place using the retainer bolts. Tighten the bolts to 34-43 ft. Lbs. (44-56 Nm).
Install the wheel cylinder and bolts along with the hydraulic line.
Position and secure the brake shoes and assorted springs and components.
Attach the brake drum.
Bleed the brake system.
Install the wheel and tire assemblies. Lower the vehicle.
