1996 Other Rover Models Knocking noise

Hi I have a Rover 414 P - reg, 1.4ltr, When I release the clutch I can hear a single knocking noise coming from the back of my car, I also have a kind of grinding noise which is coming from the front of my car, this started happening about a week ago and the noise has got quieter and does not seem to happen as often as when it first started, it can happen at any time, either braking, accerlarating, coasting etc, I was wondering if some1 might be able to tell me what they think this might be please? I don't think the 2 are linked?

Hello .. thanks for the donation .. much appreciated Have the exhaust system and rear suspension checked for the knocking noise .. have all all belt pulleys checked and alternator/power steering pump/A/C compressor .. alos have the wheel bearing checked Hope this helps
