I bought a new car. Great deal not much needs to be done to pass safety. My question pertains to the rocker panels. The pinch weld is where the car gets lifted, and its kind of patchy has a few good strong spots left in it. My plan, and please tell me if you think it will be good for inspection, is to weld a piece of square tubing between the original pinch weld and the new rocker panels. Now I know it will be strong enough to be lifted there, but do you think that it would pass safety like that? I realize it may look out of place under there, but it would be safe, right?

Do you
have the same problem?

You can just use the same size sheet metal but in a safety check they may not pass due to rust.
