Hi guys,
my wife and I are living in france for ayear and bought a 2001 renault scenic 1.6 petrol that has now 110000km on the clock. We always had the normal service done by various renault garages but now our new garage tells us that we need to change the timingbelt at the cost of $1380. Does that sound expensive? Do you really need to change the belt? We will be using the car for another 8 month before movin back to oz driving aprox 40 km a day? Thanking you in advance for your answers regards fritz. By the way this is a great website I am glad that I found it

Manufacturers recommend timing belt change at 65000 miles. If it breaks it damage the engine !
