I got my 1998 Renault megane classic 1.6engine, serviced 2 weeks ago. A few days later the car over heated on me, and when I checked the water was nearly empty. I filled with water.

i rang the mechanic who said he had put cloorant in during service and the water level had been ok, but keep an eye on it.

Since than, I have been small journeys (have done 60 mile in 2wks), and the temp hand is rasing and than falling again. The water has dropped after each journey (approx 4mile return journey)

I have also noticed Whilte smoke coming out of the exast.

Last year the head gasket blew on me on a motorway and I had to get the engine replaced. The new engine they put in had 80k miles on it.

Is this the same problem again? I did not notice the smoke last year, the car just over heated and died out

Do you
have the same problem?

Have the cylinders compression tested. Suspect headgasket failure again !
