My stock radio is not working. I have taken it out and everything looks fine, all the fuses are good. Do I just need to get a new after market radio or is there anything else that could be as to why it’s not working?
Do you
have the same problem?

Hi,

When you turn it on, does it power up as if it should be working?

As far as an aftermarket, the wiring will require modifications unless you can get an adapter type plug to go from your vehicle to the radio you select. Often times it is easier getting an OEM radio from a salvage yard, but that is up to you.

Let me know.
Joe

If the power and grounds are working the head unit has gone bad. here is a video of an aftermarket stereo in a similar vehicle:

https://youtu.be/jF_sDSS0n7I

This guide will help you test the power and grounds, I have also seen the clock spring go bad for the steering wheel controls cause the radio not to work.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

There are a couple possible causes of this so we need to perform the attached testing and repair as needed. Let me know what questions you have with this and we can go from there.

Radio seems to be okay, but no sound. Confused about your answer. Blue power antenna wire, where does that hook up? Last wire on black connector? Last number sequence, if that is the case which is pin one.

Have the infinity amp.

I have brown mute wire open.
I have blue with yellow open and blue with white open. P. Cont. Remote?

What is the rest of the story? If you are posting a new question instead of replying to the original question, new people will be coming in to the middle of your ongoing conversation and nothing will make sense.

It sounds like you are trying to install a lower-quality aftermarket radio and use the vehicle's remote amplifier. Unlike with GM and Ford systems that must be used as a matched set, Chrysler radios can all be used with or without the amp, but if not matched correctly, you will have too much or too little bass. Chrysler amps do not increase volume or power, so they can be used with an aftermarket radio, but they will not have the same tone response as the original one had.

The amp gets its turn-on signal from the circuit at the radio that could also turn on a power antenna. That is usually labeled as the "power antenna" wire on aftermarket radios, and in a loose attempt to standardize wire colors, that is typically a dark blue wire.

What did you use for the ground wire? Which radio did you remove, a cassette radio, cd radio, or combo? Do you have the Infinity system with an amplifier?

My jeep radio does not work. It's wired correctly to the harness. I believe it's internal, any ideas?

If you have exhausted all ideas and there is 12 volts getting to the radioe and it is not responding, it is most certainly internal.
I would reccomend getting a replacement as repair is not available.

Rats. I'm an expert on '90s Chrysler radios. I don't get involved with any aftermarket replacement models, but it sounds like you might just have a blown fuse. If your radio has a digital display, it will have two 12 volt feed wires; one is from the ignition switch to turn it on and one is live all the time for the memory. Some will not turn on at all if the memory fuse is blown. Some will work fine but the station presets and clock will reset each time you turn it on. Some will tune but won't have any sound.

The memory fuse is typically tied in with the interior lights but it could also be connected to anything else that's always live like the horn, brake lights, or cigarette lighter.
