Suspension problem
1999 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have 99 sunfire GT, 2.4L, Automatic.
I am trying to replace the front and rear struts/shocks myself.
First, How the heck do you loosen the main strut assembly plate nut?
It seems to be very difficult. It's not rusted. It's covered in grease so it's good there. It's just on too damn tight.

Second, After compressing the springs how do I remove the same nut?
It is in a deep resessed setting so getting a wrench on it is not possible. If I try to just use a ratchet the centre moves with it of course.
I have enough room for the centre hold down wrench but as I said the main nut is set to far in
