1991 Pontiac Sunbird 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic
Hello. I recently stopped at a stop sign and my car gave a chug and died. I have determined that it is an ignition problem. The distributor is not getting a spark( I tested that with one of those dummy spark plug testers.) I have just put a new coil on and still I have no spark being generated. I have also tested out all the relay switches in the car and found that they are still good. The distributor does turn so it cant be a timing belt issue? Just no spark. I am at a loss as to what else the problem could be. Something inside the distributor maybe not generating enough power to get a spark out of the coil? All the wires seem to be in good order and there is power going into the coil.(Used a tester light). I am going to take back the coil and get a replacement cause as we all know, just because its new doesnt mean it works properly. But as you can tell I am at a lost as to what else it could be. Anything you guys have to offer would be very much appreciated.
