1991 PONTIAC SUNBIRD - 50,000 KILOMETERS

Cannot seem to get enough heat into the vehicle - Temperature gauge only shows at 40 C, but will fluctuate wildly from 20 C to 60 C, but basically stays at around 40 C. Replaced Thermostat ( 195 F) and a new radiator cap. Would a back flush of the system help? Could be the circulation be due to faulty water pump? Also, the car had very little use last year.

Try changing the engine coolant temp sensor $12? First
