  • 1996 Pontiac Bonneville

1996 pontiac bonneville SE, 127K miles. I have owned this car for two weeks, and it makes an obvious clunking noise out of the front passenger wheel area when I turn left or hit a bump with the front passenger tire. I have driven it like that for a while, and no problems have arisen, but I am really unnerved by that noise and want to know what the cause is before I end up standed somewhere. My dad thinks it's a u-joint. I know some about cars, but little about suspensions etc.

Three obvious problems: 1. Tie-rod
2. Balljoint
3. Strut
Jack up that wheel and move the tire around and look for excessive play. That will be you problem area.
