1992 Plymouth Colt starting

Engine Mechanical problem
1992 Plymouth Colt 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 176600 miles

sometimes it will start, sometimes it won't. First thing in the morning it will take a lot of cranking to get it to fire. We have replaced the spark plugs, wires, rotater cup. After it has been started in the morning, most times it will run the rest of the day without a problem. When it's wet out, it sometimes acts up, also. One auto store says it needs a electronic control unit. But I'm not sure I want to put that kind of money into it at this time. Any other suggestions.

Do you
have the same problem?
