1996 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 158000 miles

I have a 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora and the problem is when I first bought the car it ran fine but after a while the car started to idle and and you would have to crank a few times to start but now it wont start at all. People say that it's the mass airflow sensor and others say the fuel pump. In order to start my car you have to spray starting fluid into the mass airflow sensor and it would start right away. But now that does'nt work. When the car runs the rpm would idle very low and soon the car would shut off if you didnt push the gas pedal. I would like to know what the promblem is. (Can A Mass AirFlow Sensor Stop Your Car From Running at All?)
