My truck recently had no4 con rod blow through the engine.
The engine recently did 18000 miles without servicing would this affect the con rods ?
The vehicle was bought new & had been serviced regularly up to that point.

You missed 6 oil changes the oil is dirty that dirt/debris made it to no.4 bearing block off the flow-it got overheated and welded to the crankshaft journal and it threw the rod.

Thank you for your reply.

According to the nissan recommendation the engine is to be serviced every 6000 miles/6months, therefore missing only 2 services.
When the vehicle was last serviced it had a major overhaul ( Nov 07 ) this was to compensate. The engine blew 23rd Jan 08.
In between the services oil was checked regularly & replaced when required. The dealer was made aware that it had been a while in between services would they have not changed the oil ?
