Hi

Daughter has a 2001 nissan sentra. It has started just shutting down when she is driving it. Has 64,000
miles on it. Bought a new battery, brought it to our mechnic who replace the belts and checking everything else. Picked it up last night at the garage got around the corner and it just died again, so back to the mechanic it went. They think it may be something to do the computer chip? Got any ideas before we have to bring it to to the Nissan Dealership and see what boogus they tell us. Can't let her drive the car if it keeps dying out? Any help would be greatly appreciated the $$$$$ is getting
to much Thanks a million

The PCM can be checked to see if it is bad by plugging it into another computer. It wont be free but you will have to eliminate that problem from the equation. If the PCM is bad it could easily cause this problem and it must be replaced if bad. When u say "died" do u mean just the engine or everything? Does it sputter before it dies it does it just cut off like u shut it off yourself? If its the latter, have your ignition switch checked as well as your fuses, battery, battery cables, alternator, and spark plugs or ignition coils (unless they have been checked already.)
