Four cylinder two wheel drive automatic 123,500 miles.

I just recently purchased this car it is the GXE model with a 1.8 engine.
I was told to replace map sensor I purchased part with the intention of doing the job myself unfortunately I have no idea of the location of the manifold absolute pressure sensor. Can you answer this? Where is the map sensor located on my car? Please keep in mind it is a California engine which I realized when I was trying to find location of map sensor. I live in New York City different emissions standards. I do not know if that matters. All I am sure of it has decreased car performance and gas mileage.
Do you
have the same problem?

The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor for the 1.8L California engine is located on the right side of the firewall, pictured below.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. Cheers

You can try cleaning it, but if it does not help then the sensor will need replaced. You can follow the link below to watch how to clean a MAF sensor. The video shows a FJ cruiser but the cleaning procedures are the same.

The idle is rough on it at low idle especially in drive while foot is on the brake. I was told its the mass air flow sensor. I was wondering if a mass air flow sensor just from your local Napa will work or if you need a updated one from the dealer? And also does it have to do a idle relearn?

Inspect wiring to it and clean it with an approved cleaner and see what happens.
