I was driving down the highway at about 50 and accidentally hit the shift into neutral, when I went to correct it I accidentally put it into reverse instead of drive. The car made a screeching noise and started slowing down dramatically, I believe at this point I had switched it back to drive. I pulled over put the car in park and turned it off. I restarted it and put it in drive and while I was almost flooring it, my car wouldn't go past 50 mph. It's just really slow. My dad thinks I blew my transmission so I went out today, (2 days later) to try to see if it would even shift to drive from park and it did. What should I do, what do you think the problem might be, and how much might it cost?
