1992 Nissan NX 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 235000 miles
I have a 92 NX2000 that I just replaced the engine in. The new/old engine started and ran while we did some checks. We started a test drive when the car died after about 100 feet. It started again but died when taking off and won't start again. It cranks fine but won't fire. I've discovered that the fuel pump relay isn't working. I can jump it from 1 to 5 and the pump works when the key is turned. It only shows power on #1. A new relay didn't help. The clutch inhibitors don't show any power at any time. I have no spark coming from the coil. Does the ignition switch send power to the fuel pump relay? Can a faulty ignition switch cause it to not send power to the coil. I haven't checked to see if the line to the coil has power or not. I replaced the coil before we got it started after the engine replacement. Is there something that could cause the coil to go bad that quickly?
