Engine Performance problem
2005 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Automatic 45000 miles

My engine light recently came on so I had a diagnostic test done which came back with a troubleshooting code- P0340. Since then I've had trouble starting the car. I have to hold the key in the start position longer for it to start up, now it doesn't start at all, it cranks but doesn't turn over. The mechanic said from the code one of the possible reasons could be the timing belt. The code reads 3 possibilties- 1 cam sensor defective-2 check connector and wiring in sensor- 3-engine mechanical condition-timing belt/chain out of time. What could it be?
