Hi guys,
My Altima's trunk won't open. The Key Fob won't work neither does the button on the console work. The button on the trunk door will not work either. Could this be due to a blown fuse or the circuit breaker. There is no mechanical noise like the normal "pop" when it opens. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Hey SPLAVA,

Test all your fuses first. There is an electronic solenoid that releases the latch that could be bad. Open the trunk using the key and then test of power and the solenoid to confirm its failure. It should open with the key if the latch itself is not jammed or broken.

Use a test light to check for power

and

The video is on a Honda but it the same thing to change it on a Nissan

Please let us know happens so it will help others.

Best, Ken

I believe it is part of the latch in the center of the lid.

You may have inadvertently push the lever inside the trunk to LOCK position. That will disable the remote release from the driver seat.

The trunk key hole is probably rusted out. My trunk key has not worked since 1997.

Pull the two tabs on the back seat to gain access to the trunk. Locate the lock latch release tab, close to the trunk latch. Push up to UNLOCK position. Remote release should work now.

I would have to check your bcm, the bcm controls those systems. Can you check for bcm trouble codes. Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free. I'm not sure if they will check manufacturer specific codes, you can call them and ask.

The basic check for bcm would be to check voltage and ground circuit for bcm. Then check signal from bcm to component that the bcm controls. A digital logic probe should be safe for that testing. I'm not sure of voltage on that circuit? So you have to be careful not to put a load on that circuit.

I's a good possibility your bcm is faulty, but, check the basics, first. Voltage and ground.

Just to add, some of those fuses are hot all the time. Some go hot with the key on. Check voltages at the fuses with key on, they should all be hot with key on.

Check the ground, also.

Computer problem
2002 Nissan Altima 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 112000 miles

hi. My trunk light blinks everytime I put my turning signal on, instead of the green signal, also when I flash on the high beam. My check engine light went on the 1st time it happen. Engine code for the airbag module indicated it was open, I recently changed the seatbelts, engine code for seatbelt retainers indicated. Any ideas? Would nissan have to reset computer for seat belt and airbag?
