Need to know where the ECM is located on 2002 Ford Taurus

4 or 5 trans codes displaying and car has been running fine for a year, however it will not pass inspection unless it gets fixed. Thinking about replacing ECM. Anybody know how difficult it would be?

It's probably not your problem, check battery for condition then check fluid level may be low and causing codes. Weak batteries send false codes among other things. Thenhave a trans guy check it.

Trans guy wants 1,200 to fix. Not sure I trust this him!

If he wants that much it 's probably in need of a rebuild check around at different shops and it's probably in the ball park.
