1998 Mitsubishi Montero 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 115000 miles
I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport (4x4 auto) and have recently began to have an intermittent starting/electrical problem. When it first began, I had absolutely no power at the turn of the key (no noise, clicking, nothing). I was given a jump buy a friendly passerby and she started right up no problem. Since this event I have had my battery checked multiple times. I still encounter the same problem from time to time with absolutely no sound, lights, power. Nothing. Except now when I encounter this, the car will crank on the second or third attempt (along with occasional clicking). I don't fully understand what is going on because it, sounds like it could be the battery/cables (which I checked), the ignition, park/neutral switch or perhaps the starter. Sounds fishy to me but, I definitely don't want to replace the starter if possible because I have heard replacements never last. Please offer any words on insight. Thanks-Joe
