Engine Performance problem
1988 Mercury Tracer 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 255000 miles
A few days after washing the engine on my 88 Tracer, it died as I was pullng out of the driveway. I had it started several times after the washing, so water in the cap didn't seem like an issue. I have since changed the distributor cap, checked the firing order vs plug wires on the cap, checked for spark at the plug (seems good). I have jiggled or unplugged/replugged all engine electrical connectors I can find. All fuses in the engine compartment box and under the dash test good with an ohmmeter (when removed). The fuel pump showed only 40 psi output so I replaced it. The engine won't attempt to fire even when fluid is sprayed directly into the throttle body intake. Could the little car's little brain have been fried?
have the same problem?
