I have a 2000 Mercury Sable that pulls hard to the right, at any speed. Worse, when you hit a bump or dips in the road the car shimmies left and right (one revolution) as if you were rolling around on the top of a ball. I took it to the local repair shop hoping that all it needed was an alignment. The estimate I received said it needed new brakes and rotors (most importantly), new struts, new bearings, and the left front sway bar was broken. They couldn't explain what exactly was causing the " shimmy". I will replace the pads and rotors but I'm wondering what is the next most important step to hopefully get this thing running a little more straight?

I would say the bearings would be next unless the struts are bad enough to cause you to lose control and also the sway bar.
