1994 Mercury Sable 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 85,000 miles
My problem is sometimes when I turn the key the car does nothing, just not everytime. The dash lights come on, my headlights will work but it doesn't seem to be getting connection from the key down. It doesn't matter if it is in park or neutral so I don't believe it is the neutral switch. Nor does it make a difference if your wiggle the key when trying to start it. When you try to start, it acts as if there is no power to the switch. I have replaced the battery, checked all the fuses under dash and under the hood, and replaced the ignition cylinder and key. It started fine for about 2 weeks now it will not start at all, but I still have power throughout the car. I have the steering column down and I'm unsure which is the actual ignition switch so I can check that also. When I do find it what do I look for? Will it have obvious signs of wear? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
