1999 Mercury Mountaineer help!

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a problem. I have a 1999 mercury mountaineer with 108000 miles. Its AWD V8 also. In the past few months Ive noticed that when I speed up to about 50-55mph the engine starts to hesitate, and almost chug until I press on the gas a little more. If anyone has any possible answers I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Try the MAF sensor, fords are known for em.
