1998 Mercedes Benz SL500 V8 Automatic 163000 miles
While driving the car will pull to both to the left and the right as if it has taken a new direction by itself. This occurs at all speeds but appears to be more prevalent at lower to medium speeds (25-60 MPH). Do not feel "comfortable" taking the SL 500 to higher speeds (80-100), but when I do, it tracks better, but still not right - - not what I would expect from this car - - its not a safe, linear "feel.&Quot; Difficult to describe. Will happen almost every time after going over a "bump" in the road, but will also happen without "feeling" a bump. Very very small amount of play in the steering wheel. Prior to purchase new brakes and pads were installed. Front tires are slightly worn, but have passed yearly inspection even though I was told they will need to be replaced next inspection. Only other item of notice is a mild whine when driving car first time of day. This very mild engine whine accelerates with speed, then after a few minutes, disappears. Do not believe it is associated with this tracking problem. Made appointment for tomorrow with local Goodyear Tire center to get this diagnosed, but would also like some insight.
Model: sl 500
