I've recently bought a car, I was informed it had overheating issues prior to sale and they never got around to trying to figure it out.

Im not sure how to check if its the water pump, but I am pretty sure its the thermostat seeing as it overheats while idle and while driving(within a mile), and the heat isnt working either.

I'm not what you would call mechanically inclined, I was curious what most shops generally charge on average for the replacement of a thermostat and at worse a water pump?
