Engine Mechanical problem
2006 Mazda 3 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 80,000 miles
I was driving my Mazda when all of a sudden it made a squealing clicking noise and then powered down (literally died on me). No lights at all came on and no noises had been heard until this occurred. I take it to the dealership and they said that my cam shaft is locked up due to oil starvation and so I need a new engine which they are quoting at $9700. What exactly can cause the cam shaft to lock up and are they trying to rip me off? I've gotten all the required and needing maintainance done on my car when it was suppose to be (oil changes, tire rotations, every 30000 mile check ups) Please help I'm in desperate need! Could this problem have been caused by the dealership such as them not changing my oil?
